Corruption Isnt Confined to A Single Political Party
I hate that this happened, but love to see action being taken. Corruption anywhere = corruption everywhere.
I don't care if you are left, right, or center on the political spectrum. Crooked politicians need to be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.
For example, New York Mayor Eric Adams has been formally charged with five counts of activities relating to conspiracy, wire fraud and bribery. The indictment details how Adams allegedly "solicited and demanded" bribes from Turkish officials.
Go get 'em, feds!
On the (likely - who knows what any of these folks believe??) other end of the spectrum is Jared Kushner. Shortly after the time of his father-in-law's time as President, he formed an equity fund. This equity fund has brought in over $100B in investment fees on billions of dollars in investments from foreign sources. However, he has yet to pay a dime in earnings to investors in over three years. Uncommon activities like that has led to questions about the fund was actually a way for foreign governments to curry favor with a future Trump administration. Now the US Senate is looking into the fund. The linked article notedly stated: "Kushner’s private equity fund continues to act as a potential instrument for autocratic foreign governments to quietly influence U.S. policy, and the odder its behavior as a fund, the more it will appear to serve as a possible de facto laundering operation."
I recall when the fund was formed and was being funded believing that it sounded awfully fishy. I'm glad that someone will finally be looking into it.
I do not appreciate public officials (or their staff, like Jared Kushner) using their positions to personally enrich themselves. I don't care what side of the political aisle they are on - I want them prosecuted and, if found guilty, behind bars.
What Does this Have to Do With Private Investigation?
The point of this post - other than to take a bit of glee in dirty politicians being held accountable - is simply this: Corruption happens everywhere. It happens in politics, judicial systems, policing, etc. Good people get caught up in bad schemes. And others purposely seek out positions to enrich themselves. A corrupt person does not have a certain "look."
It can happen in your company.
Are there improper benefits being given to certain employees for improper acts? Do your employees act in the best interest of your company, or of themselves?
It's food for thought.
