The (Bitter)Sweetest Day of the Year?
The largest radio station in Texas (KRBE) does a bit on Thursday mornings called Roula and Ryan's Roses. The entire back catalog is found on Chartable.
As a side note, I LOVE Roula and Ryan. They are the best morning show in the biz! I've lived in seven states and, with apologies to the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show (RIP Kidd), these folks are the best. But I digress.
Roula and Ryan's Roses is a bit in which people who suspect that their romantic partners are cheating can have Roula call the suspected cheater and offer "free roses" that can be sent to anyone in the country, often with the ruse specifying that the offer is part of a collaboration with the suspected cheater's work. The suspected cheater often takes the bait and sends the "free roses" to their new love interest. After getting some incriminating information, the innocent partner joins the conversation and the suspected cheater now knows that he/she is busted.
It's a great bit and super entertaining. I refrain from commenting upon the realness of the bit, but regardless it highlights something that private investigators ("PIs") have known for a long time - at times of romantic expectation, cheaters are going to cheat.
For that reason, holidays - especially Valentine's Day - is a great time to catch them in the act.
Two recent articles (originally an audio piece on NPR and and article on Lootpress) discuss how Valentine's Day for PIs is like tax season for accountants.
I loved this quote from the Lootpress article: "One private sleuth with Undercover Investigations and Spousal Spies, put it this way: 'Some guys might not take care of their wives on Valentine’s Day, but they sure take care of their girlfriends.'"
That's exactly right in my experience! Guys are definitely going to be doing things for and with their girlfriends on Valentine's Day. And ladies are definitely going to be getting gifts and/or having meetups with their boyfriends on Valentine's Day. It's just the nature of the beast.
888 Can Help
Now, I cannot say whether Mackenzie - whose nickname "The Catfish Queen" has been well earned - would ever do anything like Roula and Ryan's Roses or something similar. And I definitely cannot say how effective she is at surveillance (spoiler alert: she's INCREDIBLE). But suffice it to say that we can help. Reach out to see what we can do for you.
